Friends and family are mourning a Brewton attorney, the victim of a possible drowning who was discovered in the swimming pool of his residence on Thursday night.
Escambia County sheriff's officials said an ambulance was called to the home of James &#8220Jamie” Harold Halford Jr. at 168 Gum Tree Lane at 9:15 p.m. Thursday.
Halford was found in the pool by his wife Ginger and daughter April, and they performed CPR until medical personnel arrived on the scene, officials said.
Halford was then transported to D.W. McMillan Hospital were he was pronounced dead.
Sheriff Grover Smith said he expects the death to be ruled a drowning.
The body was transported to the forensic science lab in Mobile for an autopsy.
Halford, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brewton, was active in Sunday school as well a regular attendee of services at the church, Alecia Glaize said.
Halford was always willing to take care of things needed to get a project completed, said Ed Glaize, pastor at First United Methodist Church.
Fellow attorneys will also miss Halford's presence in a professional atmosphere.
Funeral arrangements for Halford were incomplete at press time. Arrangements are being handled by Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
