Police impersonations pose threat

In light of recent events throughout the region, getting pulled over by a police officer may cause more fear than just the fear of getting a ticket.
A female driver in Mobile was stopped and harrassed earlier this month by two men posing as law enforcement officers.
Although local law enforcement officers have not reported any such impersonations in our area, there is always a chance an impersonation of an officer could happen at any time.
Col. Mike Coppage, director of the Alabama Department of Public Safety, said troopers and other law enforcement officers are aware of the concerns motorists may have about being stopped by an individual who may be posing as a law enforcement official.
