We are blessed to live in a community in which so many resources are available. With the Highway 41 haz-mat accident many of our local resources were called into action.
Please allow me a moment to thank one of our own Red Cross volunteers, Disaster Chairman, Chris Smith. Mr. Smith, who is a member of the Escambia County Rescue Squad and the Appleton Volunteer Fire Department, was also present at the accident. He recognized the workers' need during those 17 long hours, took cases of Heater Meals, snacks and water to the site compliments of your local American Red Cross Chapter.
Please remember that during a time of disaster, weather related or like this one, accidental, your local Red Cross is available, not only for those directly involved in the disaster situation but to support those working to make the situation better. Thanks to all the professionals and the volunteers from the various departments and organizations who make such a difference by giving so much of their time to ensure the safety of others.
