Residents seek striping on Sardine Road

A Sardine Road resident presented a thank you note signed by 82 residents of the area to emphasize their desire to see their road striped for safety.
Having addressed the commission on the subject, County Engineer Bill Bridges indicated the request might have to wait for a period of time before it can be granted.
Commissioner Larry White, the county representative for district 3, stated the commission would consider the area during the upcoming fiscal year.
The cost for striping one mile of county roads can cost over $1,000, said David Stokes, commission chairman.
Also during Monday's meeting, the commission received a check for $17,700 from Ricky Elliott, assistant administrator with the Escambia County Health Department. The funds are from a grant awarded to the county by the Alabama Delta Rural Health Network. The 2006 grant marks the fifth year the county as received the special funding.
Elliott explained one program currently functional as a result of the partnership that helps teach about health care as well as improve the quality of care.
