Andalusia draws top Area volleyball seed
Andalusia has grabbed the top seed for the upcoming Class 4A Area 2 Volleyball Tournament, which will be played at T.R. Miller High School Oct. 17.
Andalusia and T.R. Miller split their two regular season meetings with each winning on its home floor. Both are also undefeated against the other Area member, W.S. Neal. Andalusia was awarded the no. 1 seed over T.R. Miller based on sets won in head-to-head meetings. Andalusia won 3-0 at Andalusia, while T.R. Miller won 3-2 at Brewton. That gave Andalusia an overall 5-3 edge in sets.
Second-seeded T.R. Miller and third-seeded W.S. Neal will play a first-round game at 4:30 p.m. The winner will play Andalusia in the game to follow.
The top two teams will advance to regional competition Oct. 21. Since Andalusia is already in the championship game, it will grab one of those spots. The T.R. Miller-W.S. Neal winner will grab the other position.
The Area 2 champion will get the first opportunity to host the regional tournament. Area 2 is paired up against Area 1 in the first round of the regional. That field includes Escambia County, Monroe County and Thomasville.
