Three members of the T.R. Miller Tigers football team have received area recognition for their recent accomplishments.
Senior quarterback Baxley Raines was named Scout South's Statewide Player of the Week for his play in last Friday's game at Thomasville.
Raines completed 12 of 21 passes for 221 yards and threw two touchdowns in the final three minutes to lead the Tigers to the victory. Raines also contributed four extra points and had a successful onside kick attempt in the fourth quarter between his two touchdown passes. Raines' 221 yards passing are a career high.
Tigers coach Jamie Riggs was recognized by the same service as Coach of the Week. T.R. Miller's 28-23 over top-ranked Thomasville is expected to vault the Tigers to the top of the Class 4A state rankings when the polls are released today.
Senior offensive lineman Brad Smith has been recognized for the work he has done in the classroom, as he has been named the Scholar Athlete of the Week by WEAR Channel 3 out of Pensacola, Fla.
