Mr. Mark Joseph Irwin, 52, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006. His parents were formerly of Brewton. He was very proud of his heritage, including American Indian, Scottish (Clan Irwin), and Sons of the Confederacy.  He was a member of Wade Hampton Camp 273 in Columbia, S.C.  He was a member of Ferguson Light Artillery of the South Carolina Palmetto Battalion.  Mark enjoyed children by donating his time as Santa at Christmas for Families Helping Families, for the underprivileged, and Children's Hospital at Palmetto Richland Memorial located in Columbia, S.C.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cynthia Carter Irwin of Lexington; his father, Bill Irwin of Lexington; and his brother, Edward Irwin of Columbia, S.C.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Charles Sipper.  Interment followed at Woodridge Memorial Park.
