Mini Mites still unbeaten; Mites win, Midgets fall

Defenses shined for both the Brewton Mini Mites and Brewton Mites, as both pitched shutouts in wins over visiting Ensley Blue Saturday.
The Mini Mites notched a 13-0 win, as they improved to 7-0 on the season.
Markhail Mitchell had a 45-yard touchdown run to lead the Mini Mites, while Chardian Johnson provided the other score on a 15-yard dash.
Kellyn Winn, Anterio Drakeford, Ethan Tyree, Ahma'ud Taylor and Clayton Turner anchored the Mini Mites on defense.
The Brewton Mites (6-1) got their shutout win over Ensley Blue by a 36-0 margin.
Dominique Jackson had the longest scoring play for the Mini Mites with a 50-yard touchdown run, while Dedrionne Lee was not far behind with a 45-yard scoring run. Dillan Carpenter also had a big play with a 27-yard touchdown dash. Kieon Smith, D'Andre Fraser and Jaylon Herbert also scored touchdowns for the Mites.
Marquiese Thomas, Terry Samuel, Jalen Jones, Michael Woods and Lucas Knight led the Mites on defense.
While the Brewton Mini Mites and Mites came up winners, the Brewton Midgets were on the wrong end of a 13-6 decision to Ensley Blue.
Calvin Matthews provided the lone score for the Midgets (3-4), who fell behind 13-0 in the first half, with a 56-yard
touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Ivory Miller, Jamal Spears, Sim Brown, Fred Grice and Micah McKinney paced the Midgets on defense.
The Brewton teams close out the regular season Saturday at Milton Black. Play starts with the Mini Mites at 3:30 p.m. followed by the Mites at 5 p.m. and the Midgets at 6:30 p.m.
