Helen Cardwell Macks Spence

Mrs. Helen Cardwell Macks Spence, 87, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at a local hospital. She was a native of Century, Fla. and spent most of her life there, but had resided in Walnut Hill for the past 12 years. She attended Little River Free Holiness Church and was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard O. Macks and two sons, Donnie Macks and Wayne Macks.
She is survived by her husband of 12 years, J.D. &#8220Dink” Spence of Walnut Hill, seven sons, Leonard A. (Jane) Macks, A Lavon (Brenda) Macks, the Rev. Joe E. (Judy) Macks, Tommy (Kathy) Macks, all of Century, Ronnie (Linda) Macks of Pensacola, Fla., John (Diane) Spence of Walnut Hill and Billy Ray (Brenda) Spence of Fairdealings, Mo.; a daughter, Sue (John) Welch of Bay Minette; a daughter-in-law, Pearl Macks of Century; three brothers, Elton (Barbara) Cardwell of Castleberry, W.C. (Jeanette) Cardwell and Johnnie (Barbara) Cardwell, both of Dixonville; one sister, Mary (Coley) Dixon of Dixonville; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Wilson and the Rev. D.L. Harville officiating. Burial followed at Byrneville Cemetery with Petty Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Michael Hammond, Daniel Macks, Tim Macks, Don W. Macks and Tommy Macks Jr.
