A slightly injured truck driver must have known luck was on his side Monday as he crawled to freedom from the massive wreckage of what remained after an accident involving the log truck he was driving.
Traffic along Alabama Highway 41 came to a stop near the Tippens Eddy Road intersection following a single-vehicle accident involving a log truck. The road remained blocked by wreckage and logs for some time following the accident.
Tommy Rex Fore of Brewton was driving a 2001 Mack log truck when the vehicle left the road and overturned, according to information from the Alabama State Troopers office in Evergreen. The accident occurred just after 8 a.m. Monday.
The log-filled trailer detached from the truck cab in the rollover accident and spilled logs along the roadway and shoulders at the scene of the accident.
Brewton Fire Department personnel used the Jaws of Life to cut away portions of the cab in order to free Fore from the wreckage. Ambulance workers with D.W. McMillan Ambulance service were also on the scene to assist with extrication.
Fore suffered minor injuries in the accident. He was transported by ambulance to D.W. McMillan Hospital where he was treated and released.
Trooper DeCostas was the investigating officer in the incident. Other personnel responding to the accident were Appleton Volunteer Fire Department, Brewton Police and Escambia County Sheriff's officers.
