Mrs. Sylvia Jean Blocker Norris, 57, of Fleming Lane, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at a local nursing facility after an extended illness. She was a native of Hamburg, Ark., and a long-time resident of Milton and Pensacola, Fla., before moving to Brewton. She was a retired retail sales clerk and a member of the Faith Chapel Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Ethel Blocker; a brother, Richard Blocker and a sister, Nancy Blocker.
She is survived by her husband, John Norris of Brewton of Brewton; one daughter, Wendy (Scott) Cooper of East Brewton; two brothers, Billy Blocker of Arcadia, Fla. and James Blocker of Shreveport, La.; five sisters, Viola McKinney of Bryant, Ark., Jane Curtis of Longview,Texas, Ginger Kinman, of Hot Springs, Ark., Helen Ikner of Shreveport, La., and Mildred Campbell of Pensacola, Fla.; one granddaughter, Emily Ann Cooper; six nieces and 13 nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Levins officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
