Mr. Irby Ellis Thomas, 72, of Lynbrook Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Tuscaloosa and a former resident of Mississippi before moving to Brewton 17 years ago. He was an active member of Brewton First United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran, member of the Brewton Lions Club and did volunteer work with YMCA and American Red Cross. He was a retired loans manager from Associates Finance Company.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Ragas Thomas of Brewton; two sons, Robert Thomas of California and James Thomas of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Charlotte Thomas of Pensacola and Elizabeth Moore of Cantonment, Fla., and two grandchildren, Quinn Thomas and Nicole Malinowski.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at Brewton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Ed Glaize and Father Adrian Cook officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, First United Methodist Church of Brewton or St. Maurice Catholic Church.
