Mrs. Janie Godwin, 87, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at a Santa Rosa County hospital.
She was a native of Uriah, a former resident of Atmore for most of life and a resident of McDavid for the past few months. She attended Atmore Baptist Temple and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Godwin; a daughter, Patsy Ann Godwin and a grandson, Eddie James Godwin.
She is survived by three sons, Carl (Sylvia) Godwin of Century, Fla., James Godwin of Atmore and Leon (Patricia) Godwin of Dogwood Park, Ala.; four daughters, Cathryn (O'Neil) Bell and Faye (Robert) Harrison, both of Davisville, Fla., Laura (Barney) Barnard of St. Elmo and Shirley (Kenny) Hughes of Oak Grove, Fla.; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Harrison and the Rev. John Shambling officiating. Burial followed at Sardis Cemetery with Petty Eastside directing. Pallbearers were Michale Wilson, Eddie Wilson, Billy Wayne Harrison, Robbie Godwin, Tyler Harrison, Joe Westbrook, Brian Singleton and Bradley Singleton.
