Mrs. Thelma Barnes Holmes, 76, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, in Atmore. She was a native of Loxley, a former resident of Bratt, Fla., and a resident of Atmore for the past two years. She was a member of the WMC of Bratt Assembly of God Church and was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Hairston; a brother, Herman Barnes and a sister, Bertha Sanders.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy Hairston of Atmore; a daughter, Chris Boutwell of Flomaton; five brothers, Sherman Barnes and Leslie Barnes, both of Bratt, Grover Barnes of Atmore, Wendall Barnes of Milton, Fla., and Dexter Barnes of Michigan; a sister, Atha Waller of Bratt; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Theron Collingsworth officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery with Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Jim Riggs, Raymond Peebles, Tommy Solomon, Ricky Peebles, Jerry Ezell and Chad Burris. Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Peebles, Mr. Phillips, Bernie Wiggins, Alton Robbins, Ed Beasley and Horace Pickern.
