Mr. William Ben &#8220Willie” Downs, 62, of Pea Ridge Road, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native and former resident of Miami, Fla., and a resident of Brewton for the past 47 years. He was terminal manager with AAA Cooper Transportation in Evergreen with 41 years of service. He was a member of the Brewton Country Club and was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joan Day Downs of Brewton; a son, Willie Ben (Therese) Downs of Castleberry; a stepbrother, David Brooks of Flomaton; a stepsister, Carol Bryant of Flomaton and one grandson, Wiley Lindsey. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 24, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, at 11 a.m. at Green Acres Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Reo Pugh officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
