Former JDCC player
makes Vision roster
Kelvin Davis' attempt to start a professional career at age 47 has been a successful one.
The former Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk landed a spot on the 16-player roster of the Atlanta Vision, a club in the American Basketball Association.
Davis, a native of Lyeffion and graduate of the now closed Lyeffion High School, played at JDCC from 1977-79 where he averaged 11 points a game. He then played two years at Alabama State University from 1979-81. Although Davis continued to play basketball in recreational leagues, he never played competitive basketball again until this year when he landed his spot with the Vision.
Davis, who is currently a minister in the Atlanta suburb of Fayetteville, is believed to be the oldest rookie to play basketball in any world professional league. An interview with Davis was conducted and aired by CNN last week.
