It was a decision T.R. Miller High School athletic director Jamie Riggs had anticipated making for some time, but it was not one he enjoyed having to do.
Riggs announced the school had cancelled its 2007 golf season Thursday after there was not enough interest among students to field a team.
The decision was not unexpected. T.R. Miller had five players on its last team last spring and all five were seniors. Those five players led the Tigers to a sixth place team finish at the Class 3A state meet led by a third place individual state finish by Tripp Owens.
Golf has been an on and off activity at T.R. Miller over the years.
Riggs is not sure what the future holds for golf at T.R. Miller.
While T.R. Miller will not be fielding a golf team this spring, Riggs said there are still plenty of opportunities for students.
