WSN softball team now
opens season Thursday
The W.S. Neal Lady Blue Eagles softball team now has a new season opener after Tuesday's contest at Frisco City was cancelled.
W.S. Neal is now slated to begin its season Thursday with a 4 p.m. home game against Escambia County.
The Lady Blue Eagles will make up the cancelled game against Frisco City as part of a home doubleheader Feb. 27 with a 4 p.m. start time.
The date of W.S. Neal's contest at Florala has also changed. The game was originally scheduled for Mar. 15, but has now been set for Mar. 2 with a 4 p.m. start time.
Brewton Little League to have late registration
Late registration for Brewton Little League players in the age 9-10 division will be accepted Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Brewton YMCA Park. Tryouts will also be held at that time.
Late registration for players in the age 11-12 division will be Mar. 3 at 9 a.m. at the Brewton YMCA Park. Tryouts will also be that day.
Players must bring birth certificates to verify age. All players must be age nine before May 1 and not turn age 13 before May 1, 2007 in order to be eligible.

Redmon to be guest speaker at Celebrating Greatness program
Former T.R. Miller Tiger and NFL football player Anthony Redmon will be the guest speaker at the “Celebrating Greatness” program to be held at the Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church in Brewton Saturday from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
TRM, WSN football spring game times set
Both T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will conclude spring training football with their annual spring games.
T.R. Miller's spring game is tentatively set for Thursday at 4 p.m., while W.S. Neal's contest will be Friday at 2:30 p.m.
There is no admission charge to the games.
