A public hearing on final approval of rezoning land for a Wal-Mart Supercenter has been moved to a later date.
City council members agreed Tuesday to move the public hearing from March 27 to Wednesday, April 11, at 4 p.m. City Clerk John Angel said the change was necessary because the hearing had not met the requirements for public notice.
Officials from Sain Associates, the consulting engineers on the project, will be on hand to answer questions.
At the meeting, council members will consider whether to approve the planning commission's recommendation to rezone land on U.S. 31 from residential to general business for the new Wal-Mart store.
At the planning commission's meeting earlier this month, landowners whose property is adjacent to the site of the new store expressed concerns about living so close to the big box retailer.
Wal-Mart officials said they have added components to the project to try to buffer the landowners from the store.
