A new team is being formed to join the fight against cancer as a part of Relay for Life.
The &#8220Clean Up for Cancer” team being formed is not what Relay organizers may consider normal by standards usually followed by the group.
Dan Raulerson, a local physician, and Scott Hillman are heading up the committee to form the unusual team.
If the team evolves as Raulerson and Hillman imagine, two benefits will come from the work of the group.
The reason Raulerson felt strongly about joining with the Relay for Life organization is due to the high visibility and dedication of the group.
After meeting with the Relay for Life organizers last week, Raulerson and Hillman were given the go-ahead from the committee to begin forming their team.
Raulerson said Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith and Escambia County Commission Chairman David Stokes would be attending the Thursday meeting.
Raulerson said those who are unable to do actual pick up of the trash or debris may have other uses on the team.
Anyone interested in joining the Clean Up for Cancer team, or any other Relay for Life team, are invited to call Raulerson at his office at 867-3608 or Scott Hillman at D.W. McMillan Hospital at 867-8061 for more information.
