Mr. Lemley James Beasley, 76, of Crossover Lane, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in a local hospital after an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County, and was a retired farmer and truck driver. He attended the Cannan Free Will Baptist Church and he was preceded in death by his wife, Laurie Cain Beasley.
He is survived by four daughters, Faye (Barry) Fillmore, Jean (Royce) Baker and Robin (Mark) Bell, all of Brewton, and Diane Beasley of Flomaton; two brothers, Luverne (Pauline) Beasley, and Jessie Sylvester (Evelyn) Beasley, both of Brewton; four sisters, Addie Voncile Dees of Barnett's Crossroads, Cleo (Wayne) Owens of Crestview, Fla., Geneva (David Sr.) Parish of Atmore, and Gerald (Tom) Madison of Mississippi; nine grandchildren, Michelle Kornegay, Matthew Fillmore, Ashley Byrd, Joe Baker, Celes Green, Colt Bell, Clay Bell, Josh Bell and Laura Bell; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Bruley and the Rev. Brandon Byrd officiating. Burial followed at Cooper Cemetery in the Appleton community with Williams Memorial Chapel directing.
