Softball Area Tournament
now back to three teams
At first, there were three teams assigned to the Class 4A Area 2 softball field. Then there were four teams. Now it is back to three teams.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association originally assigned T.R. Miller, W.S. Neal and Andalusia to Area 2. The AHSAA later added Hillcrest-Evergreen to that group after that school decided to start a program this spring after the original postseason assignments had been made.
Hillcrest has now cancelled the remainder of its season after several players quit, which drops the Area 2 Tournament, which will be hosted by Andalusia, back to three teams. It also means the top seed will have a first-round bye. No bye would have been awarded in a four-team tournament.
One other change for the tournament is the date. The tournament will now be played on Thursday, May 3. It had originally been slated to be played Friday, May 4. Pairings and game times have not been announced yet.
WSN QB Club to meet
The W.S. Neal Quarterback Club will be having a meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the W.S. Neal Fieldhouse.
