Carrie Johnson of Brewton has been selected for a summer apprenticeship in Vence, France with renowned Alabama-born artist Nall.
Johnson graduated from Auburn University in 2002 with a bachelor of fine arts degree in Graphic Design. She worked as a Graphic Designer in advertising at The Commercial Appeal newspaper in Memphis, Tennessee through May of 2006. 
Currently, Johnson is attending Jefferson Davis Community College in order to increase her knowledge of art criticism while developing a body of work that will enable her to be accepted into a graduate program. 
Under JDCC art instructor Sue Laing, she has focused on furthering skills in the areas of drawing, painting, and ceramics and integrating these mediums into Postmodern works.  It was Laing who encouraged Johnson to apply for the program. 
The three month apprenticeship will be at Nall's Foundation in Vence, France.   The N.A.L.L. Art Association (Nature, Art &Life League) sponsors apprentices and creates an international cultural life by sponsoring exhibitions, conferences, concerts and charities.
While there, Johnson will be assisting Nall with projects and will also receive drawing and painting lessons from him.
