The Rev. Joel B. Emmons, 77, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Century. He retired as a head roll finisher at St. Regis Paper Company and was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God International Fellowship and the founder of ‘Endtime Prison Ministries.' He taught Sunday school at the Century Correctional Institution for many years and was a member of Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemmie E. and Charlotte M. Emmons; and two brothers, Carl Lindon Emmons and Raymond Odell Emmons.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edna Norris Emmons; two sons, Roger D. Emmons and Carl L. Emmons, both of Century; his daughter, Charlotte Emmons Ard of Enterprise; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 1, at 10 a.m. at the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Shelton Kindig officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Petty Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Billy Dole, John White, Gary Johnson, Arnold Burkett, Lavon Little and Joe Eddie Macks. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Childress, Kenny Hammac, Danny Johnson and Melvin Johnson.
