He is still part of the same team with the same goal, but now Marc Edge will be performing it with a new title in the T.R. Miller Tigers football program.
While Edge is relinquishing the position of defensive coordinator he held last year, he is inheriting the title of assistant head coach for this season.
Edge is moving into his fourth season with the T.R. Miller program and 18th season of coaching overall. Part of his coaching resume includes a head coaching stint at Daleville High School.
The Tigers have not had anybody with the assistant head coach title since Jack Whigham left the program after the 2005 season.
Edge along with Daniel Wilson (Sparta Academy) and Eddie Brundidge (Jackson) is one of three T.R. Miller assistant coaches who have had head coaching stints.
Riggs said Edge had already unofficially stepped into the assistant head coaching role.
Edge said he responded to that situation like a team needs to do when a player gets injured.
Edge said he learned a lot watching Whigham perform as an assistant head coach for the first two years he was with the T.R. Miller program.
Edge said time will tell what responsibilities he will be given in the assistant head coach's role.
