Mrs. Bernice Cook Adkisson, 85, of Slidell,La., died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in a Slidell medical facility after an extended illness. She was a native of Bradley, and a longtime resident of Mobile, Brewton and Louisiana. She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Raley Alford Sr. and Wilmer D. Adkisson; her son, Johnny S. Alford; her grandsons, Chris Skipper and Craig Skipper; and her brother, Elmer Cook.
She is survived by a son, Bill (Susan) Alford of Covington, La.; two daughters, Jill Lore of Metarie, La., and July (Wesley) Skipper of Slidell; a sister, Addie White of Brewton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at Douglas Chapel Church in Damascus, with Pete Davis officiating. Burial followed at Damascus Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
