Music, dancing, racing ducks and fireworks are highlights planned to make July 4 a memorable holiday in East Brewton.
Fireworks are set to be displayed at 9:30 p.m. July 4 from the Fort Crawford Park area as the finale for a day filled with events and entertainment.
Events planned at the East Brewton Civic Center include a Spades tournament and bingo games. A horseshoe tournament will be held in the park beginning at 4 p.m.
Opening ceremonies will feature a welcome by Clark and will be followed with entertainment throughout the evening. The annual duck race is also scheduled for 6 p.m.
Ducks are on sale at the East Brewton City Hall for $5 each. Singleton said ducks will remain on sale until race time on July 4 or until all ducks are sold.
Entertainment will be in big supply before and after the annual duck race.
Scheduled to perform during the evening are Brandon Patterson, Lois Crenshaw, Heart of Dixie Cloggers, Eddie Stringer, Tennessee Toe Tappers, Holly Wyatt and Misty Joyner.
The headline band, Chief Justice, will perform beginning at 8:30 p.m. and continue until the fireworks display begins.
Along with being entertained, those who attend the event will have an opportunity to enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage dogs, ice cream, drinks and other snacks.
Food is being prepared and offered for sale by the Ford Crawford Commission, organizers of the annual event.
