BMS football adds pair of games to schedule
The Brewton Middle School Tigers football team has added a seventh game to its 2007 slate with an extra home game against Ernest Ward that will be played Oct. 18.
The schedule has undergone a complete overhaul since Carver dropped off the slate in order to play eighth and ninth grade football. Brewton has also picked up a second contest against Monroe County, which will be played at Monroeville Sept. 11.
The Tigers are still scheduled to make their debut under first-year coach Gerald McAnally Sept. 6 at home against W.S. Neal.
The complete revised schedule is now as follows. All games start at 6 p.m.

JDCC volleyball to hold 200-point scrimmage
The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks volleyball team will hold its annual 200-point exhibition scrimmage Saturday at 1 p.m. at the JDCC Gym.
Fans will be able to get a sneak peak at the 2007 Lady Warhawks, who open the season Aug. 24 at the Gadsden State Tournament. JDCC's home opener is Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. against Gulf Coast.
While there is no admission to the scrimmage, donations are being accepted to help cover season expenses. Individuals who would like to make a donation to the program, but cannot attend the scrimmage can send them to JDCC Volleyball Program, P.O. Box 958, Brewton, Al. 36426 in care of head coach Misti Nims.
WSN Picture Day is today
W.S. Neal High School will hold its Football Picture Day today. Pictures get underway at 2 p.m. with the band. Cheerleader and football players will follow. The football team picture is set for approximately 3:30 p.m.
Spots remain for Brewton
YMCA Fall Soccer League
Spots still remain for the upcoming Brewton Area YMCA fall soccer league.
Registration will last until Aug. 20. Sign-up fee is $35 for members and $70 for non-members.
Players will be divided in age divisions of kindergarten/age 4-5, first through third grades and fourth through eighth grades.
Evaluations for players in first through third grade and fourth through eighth grade will be Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m. First through third grade players should report to the front field, while fourth through eighth grade players should report to the back field. Teams will be assigned after evaluations.
Practices for all three age groups will begin Aug. 27 and will run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Regular season play will begin Sept. 10. Teams will play two games per week, Mondays and Thursdays, at the Brewton Area YMCA. The date the season ends will be announced after the teams have been picked.
