Ret. SGM Jerry Culliver, 67, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at a hospital in Cape Giradeau, Mo. He was retired after 28 years of service with the military serving in Vietnam and in the Panama Canal. He was also a truck driver for 16 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Mitchell Culliver.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eula Culliver of Columbus; three daughters, Carol Ann (Eric) Smith of Birmingham, Annie Pauline Culliver and Stephanie (Ronald) McGhee, both of Columbus, Ga.; four sons, Jerry Andre (Harriet) Culliver of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Joseph (Stephanie) Culliver of Homerville, Ga., Freddie (Angela) Culliver and Malcom (Shrondra) Culliver of Columbus, Ga.; his mother, Pauline Culliver; four sisters, Hazel (John) Fuller, Loree Jones, Ruby Lee Williams and Lillian (Freddie) McMillan; two brothers, Michael (Ann) Culliver and Mitchell Culliver; 17 grandchildren; seven great-granchildren; and a number of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 11, at 2:30 p.m. at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce McCreary officiating. Burial followed at Old Springhill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
