Mrs. Kate Johnson Rainer Adkisson, 102, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 at the home of her daughter after a brief illness. She was a native and former resident of Elba before moving to Brewton in 1926. She was a graduate of Montevallo and was an elementary school teacher with the Brewton City School System. She was a member of the Elba United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Sugar (Ray) Sherer of Brewton; five grandchildren, Robert Hefferman of Pensacola Beach, Fla., Jane McDowell of Brewton, Allison Beckwith of Gardiner, Maine, Anne Schaeffer of Eufaula and Roger Scott of New Port Richey, Fla.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Dill officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
