Mr. Emmett O'Neal McKenzie, 74, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, in Tuscaloosa. He was a native of Pike County and a resident of Evergreen. He had been a dispatcher for a trucking company and a rest area attendant for 10 years with the State of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Mae and Louis McKenzie, and one grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Betty McKenzie of Evergreen; three sons, Greg McKenzie of Pace, Fla., George (Janice) McKenzie of Castleberry, and Ronny (Pam) McKenzie of Montgomery; a daughter, Angela (Hank) Fender of Brenham, Texas; three brothers, Barney T. McKenzie of Dothan, Dennis McKenzie of Panama City, Fla., and Floyd McKenzie of Mobile; four sisters, Francis McArdle, Evelyn Brookins, Martha Marshall, and Faye Bullard, all of Dothan; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Cope Funeral Home. Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery in Evergreen with Cope Funeral Home directing.
