Mr. Robert Lee Smith Sr., 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, in Monroeville. He was a native of Brewton and a resident of Atmore since 1965. He was retired from Monsanto after 34 years of service. He attended the Westside Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys M. Smith; a daughter, Patricia Giddeons; a brother, Aubrey Smith, and a sister, Francis Graddick.
She is survived by three sons, Doug Byrd of Robertsdale, Ken Byrd of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Rob Smith Jr. of Jacksonville, N.C.; two brothers, Frank Smith and Floyd Smith, both of Brewton; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Gladyn Mothershed officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Wallace Bailey, Adam Bailey, John Garrard, Mike Rich, Duane Dortch, and Bobby Lancaster. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Riggs and Scott Davis.
