Mr. Gregory Lamar “Greg” Tucker, 52, of Belleville Avenue, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Mobile, and a long time resident of Brewton. Mr. Tucker was a member of Brewton First Baptist Church and a graduate of T.R. Miller High School and Ed Reid Technical College. He was formerly employed with JM Chevrolet and Sherrer Machine Works. He later owned and operated East Brewton Paint And Body and Cross Creek Wrecker Service until 1998. He graduated Alabama Fire College in 1999 and was employed as a sergeant at Brewton Fire Department and also employed with Fulghum Fibers as a welder, a member of Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. He enjoyed and participated in various charities and fund raisers including Relay For Life, American Heart Association, Toys for Tots, numerous Harley ride fund raisers, was Santa for the annual Christmas party and Sparky The Fire Dog with Brewton Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert K. Tucker, and a daughter, Jesseka Brooke Turner.
He is survived by his mother, Margie Tucker Huxford of Brewton; his wife, Sandra Morris Tucker of Brewton; a son, Bryan Tucker of Brewton; a daughter, Tamara Tucker (Denton) Elliott of Monroe, Ga.; two brothers, Tommy (Reba) Tucker of Randolph, Ala. and Ronnie (Debbie) Tucker of Brewton; five grandchildren, Emary Elliott, Alex Elliott, Abigail Elliott, Tylan Tucker and Kegan Tucker; his mother-in-law, Jean Fuqua of Brewton; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Morris of Spring Hill, Fla. and Michael (Pam) Morris of Brewton; a sister-in-law, Lawrence (Karen) Weaver of Brewton; a nephew, Jeff (Vicki) Morris of Mobile; four nieces, Hollie Weaver (Jay) Coker of Birmingham, Katie Weaver of Nashville, Tenn., Erica Morris and Dana Morris both of Brewton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon Sept. 18, at 2:30 p.m. at Brewton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Fitts and Fire Chief Lawrence Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were the full time Brewton fire fighters and the honorary pallbearers were the volunteer Brewton fire fighters and special friends.
