A Brewton man is recovering at a Mobile hospital after falling more than 30 feet Monday afternoon during a maintenance job on the property of Georgia Pacific's local mill.
Brad Blackwell, an ironworker with Quality &#8220Plus” Services, Inc., fell while performing work on a capital project with the company contacted by Georgia Pacific.
Blackwell was transported to D.W. McMillan Hospital by ambulance after the fall, but was later transferred to U.S.A. Medical Center in Mobile by PHI Medical Air helicopter to be treated for the injuries sustained in the accident.
Melodie Ruse, public relations officer with Georgia Pacific said the Brewton mill's employees and staff are happy to cooperate in such a case as Monday's accident.
QPS, Inc., which is based in Tallahassee, Fla., has been a presence at the Brewton mill since 2003, Hammen said. Georgia Pacific retained the company for maintenance work when the company took possession of the mill last week.
