Escambia County residents will have many festivities to choose from this weekend at the second annual Greater Good Music, Art and Children's Festival in Davisville, Fla.
The festival will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will have art, food, vendor booths, children's activities and an onsite tent where camping will be available.
According to Mark Casson with Greater Good, Inc., and owner of the land where the festival is held, the event is for the enjoyment of young and old.
This year the festival is held to honor Escambia Westgate School/Snoezelen Complex in Pensacola, Fla. The school serves the needs of pre-kindergarten through high school students that have varying exceptionalities.
There will be many groups of musical entertainment at the festival ranging from R&B, reggae and rock. Friday night YellowJacket, Acoustifunk and Entropy will perform beginning at 6:15 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m. On Saturday, scheduled Northview High School students will have the opportunity to showcase their talents from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Beginning at 11 a.m. different artists will perform throughout the day including, Bobe Street Band, Lyndsey Battle Band, Tammerlin, Fatman Squeeze and many more. The event continues on Sunday with Peace 101, Moon Shine Babies and Maria y El Sol.
Music is not the only form of entertainment at the Greater Good festival. There will also be a tent set up for children to have a good time. Activities for children will include a costume parade, a carnival with sack races, a beanbag toss and games, puppet making and a puppet show, hand crafts and much more.
There will also be a community bonfire at nighttime at the festival.
Casson said volunteers are still needed for the festival. Individuals who volunteer for four hours get a free day pass to the festival. Call 850-777-9964 for more information about volunteering.
According to Casson, last year's inaugural Greater Good Music, Art and Children's Festival was a great time and he hopes more people will come out this year to have fun with the festivities.
