In their two wins this season, the Neal Eagles have been able to run the ball pretty well. In their three losses on the year, it has been a different story. So far W.S. Neal to come away with a win this week against Monroeville (1-4 overall, 0-3 class 4A region 1) W.S. Neal coach Blaine Hathcock says his team needs to be effective in the run game.
W.S. Neal (2-3 overall, 1-2 Class 4A region 1) is coming off a 16-14 loss to the Opp Bobcats this past Friday night. Monroeville is coming off a 34-6 loss to Greenville.
While the loss Friday night affected W.S. Neal's overall record, it did not affect their region record as last week's game was a non-region game. While Monroeville's record may not show much, Hathcock still thinks highly of the Tigers.
Monroeville is led on offense by junior quarterback Trevor Manuel and senior running back Darrius Booker.
Hathcock also sees Monroeville wide receiver Damian Richardson as a threat that will be a factor in the game if not contained.
While the playmakers on offense maybe veterans, the offensive line for Monroeville features two sophomores in Jakenorich Davison (5-10, 195 lb. soph.) and Joseph Gary (6-0, 195 lb. soph.) and a junior in Ricky Terell (5-10. 260 lb. soph.).
On the season, W.S. Neal has scored 133 points while giving up 127. Monroeville has scored 96 points on the season while giving up 147.
W.S. Neal will look to rebound and put a win in the win column this Friday night at 7 p.m. in East Brewton.
