Much of Brewton went back to the dark ages - literally - Tuesday morning after a truck hit a power pole downtown.
Crews with Alabama Power were on the scene quickly to try to restore power. While they ran into a few technical problems, they had everybody back up and running by about noon.
While the disruption was surely an inconvenience for businesses and for customers, it was a reminder of how dependent we are on service people from our local power companies.
We appreciate the work that they do to keep things running smoothly - or as smoothly as possible during an incident like Tuesday's.
