A win against Jackson this Friday night could play a big factor in the playoff lives of the T.R. Miller Tigers.
T.R. Miller (3-3 overall, 2-2 Class 4A region 1) is currently in a four-way tie in the region behind current front-runners Escambia County and Thomasville who face off this week in Atmore for the region championship.
While the Tigers have three games left after this week with two of them being region games, Riggs said he will take ‘whatever comes’.
T.R. Miller is coming off a 42-23 loss to No. 4 ranked Thomasville.
Jackson (2-4 overall, 2-2 Class 4A region 1) is coming off a 25-7 loss to Escambia County.
Earlier in the year, many coaches in the region thought Jackson and Thomasville would be the two teams to beat in the region, but Jackson slipped a little in the overall standings, but finds themselves tied with T.R. Miller, W.S. Neal and Hillcrest.
Last year, Jackson played T.R. Miller tough as the homecoming opponent for the Tigers as Miller escaped with a 38-34 win.
Jackson running back Andrew Ezell (5-10, 170 lb. sr.), who rushed for 257 yards on 26 carries last year is back for Jackson this year.
Riggs said that Jackson also plans to run their big fullback, Richard Howard (5-11, 175 lb. sr.)
While the Tigers have concern for the Aggies on offense, the defense is pretty good also.
The Tigers will look for quarterback John Mathieu to step us and play big for them on offense.
On the season, Miller has scored 125 points on the season while giving up 113. Miller has scored 88 points in region games while giving up 64. Jackson has scored 130 points on the season while giving up 133. In region games, Jackson has scored 82 while giving up 81.
Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Jackson.
