The T.R. Miller Tiger B team defeated Andalusia 16-8 Monday night in Brewton.
Telvin Spears led the Tigers in rushing with 53 yards on six carries. Quarterback Wil Riggs was 5-for-10 with 94 yards and one touchdown. Dakota Shultz had 65 yards receiving with one touchdown.
After alternating punts on their first offensive series, Andalusia was the first to get on the board when they went 48 yards on six plays to take an 8-0 lead with 2:20 left in the first quarter.
T.R. Miller responded with an 83-yard drive that used seven plays. The Tigers used a 41-yard Riggs to Shultz pass reception to move the ball down to the 36-yard line.
After an incomplete pass on first down, Spears had two rushing plays totaling 30 yards to move the ball down to the 6-yard line.
After a three-yard rush by Jaren Jackson, Spears went the final three yards on the next play to tie the game at 8-8 after the two-point conversion with 6:54 left in the second quarter. Neither team was able to score again before the half, as the game was tied 8-8 at halftime.
Miller came out driving to open up the second half as they drove down to the Andalusia 23-yard line, but a Miller fumble on the next play turned the ball over to the Bulldogs. The Tiger defense returned the favor on the Bulldogs next play from scrimmage as they recovered a Bulldog fumble at the 31-yard line.
T.R. Miller then drove to the 24-yard line where Riggs connected with Shultz in the back of the end zone for a 24-yard score to give the Tigers a 16-8 lead with 1:04 left in the third quarter.
The Tigers would then deflect a late Bulldog pass at the goal line to take the win 16-8.
T.R. Miller will finish their season next Monday when they take on Opp at home. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Brewton Municipal Stadium.
