Mr. Larry Don Nelson, 60, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at a Pensacola hospital. He was a native of Century, Fla., and had been a resident of Flomaton for 30 years, coming from Jay, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and during his working years, he worked for the Country Pine Furniture Store. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Susie Rutherford Nelson; and two sisters, Joyce Phillips and Nancy Diane Nelson and a special lifelong companion Dorothy Traweek.
He is survived by a son, Michael (Lisa) Nelson of Evergreen; his brothers, Arthur “Buddy” Nelson and Douglas Nelson, both of Century, and Alton R. Nelson of Jay; a sister, Marcella Glenn of Century; and grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas and Dylan Nelson.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Carnley officiating. Burial followed at Cora Cemetery with full military honors and Flomaton Funeral Home directing. Pallbears were Ken White, Wendell Nelson, Andy Moye, Chip Glenn, Keith Nelson, Rocky Phillips, Jimmy Daniel, and Edward Glenn.
