After a 27-26 come-from-behind victory over the Jackson Aggies Friday night, the T.R. Miller Tigers will look to celebrate another win when they take on the Hillcrest Jaguars for homecoming Friday.
T.R. Miller (4-3 overall, 3-2 class 4A region 1) will take on a “much improved team from last year” in the Hillcrest Jaguars (2-5 overall, 2-3 class 4A region 1), Riggs said. Hillcrest lost to W.S. Neal Friday, and Miller and Neal will swap opponents the week before their big rivalry.
While Riggs had high praise for the Jaguars’ skill players, he also had praise for their linemen.
Defensively, Riggs said the Jaguars are very fast and are very good at defending the run.
Hillcrest has played Geneva (5-2) and Pike County (7-0) in their non-region games and the records for the teams that have lost to is 27-3.
While this week’s game is a key game for the Tigers, it is also homecoming which my pose a distraction.
Riggs said that for his Tigers to pull out a victory, his team cannot give up the short field position like they did against Jackson.
Game time between T.R. Miller and Hillcrest is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Brewton Municipal Stadium with homecoming festivities during the pregame.
