EB youth football gets wins

The East Brewton Youth football teams came away with two wins and a tie this weekend against the Century Blackcats.
In the Midgets game, and in a hard-fought battle the game ended in a deadlock 0-0 tie. Weston Riddle had 10 yards rushing and two solo tackles. Isaac Bonam had three rushing yards and four tackles as Ryan Faulk had 25 yards rushing and a couple of solo tackles.
The East Brewton Tiny mites appeared to be fired up with just two games to go before the end of their season and clenching a spot in the 2007 Super Bowl. The East Brewton Tiny Mites started the first quarter off with Century in dominant fashion. The first play from the line of scrimmage was a reverse. Quarterback Joseph Booker faked a reverse to Keith Barksdale and went around the end for a 65-yard touchdown. Booker ran the ball in from three yards out for the two-point conversion. The East Brewton Tiny Mites never looked back. Also in the first quarter of play Keith Barksdale had a 50-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion attempt was good when quarterback Joseph Booker tossed a pass to Kristian Taylor. At the end of the first quarter the score was 8-6 in favor of East Brewton. In the second quarter of play Keith Barksdale had a 25-yard touchdown run. Assisting on the scoring drive was running back P.J. Lovelace with 25 yards rushing. The two-point conversion attempt was good when quarterback Joseph Booker tossed a pass to Matt Hutchins. At halftime the score was 24-6 East Brewton. In the third quarter of play Keith Barksdale ran for a 50-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt was no good. The final score of the game was 30-6 East Brewton.
For the Mites, East Brewton won the game 36-0. Quantae Barksdale led all rushers with 270 yards on ten attempts. Malcolm Hawthorne added 54 yards on seven carries and Miles Powell had 14 yards to add to the 338 total yards rushing.
Barksdale and Derrick Hodges had six tackles in the game to lead on defense.
