A former T.R. Miller student was killed Friday in a one-vehicle accident in Conecuh County.
Alabama State Troopers said Stephanie Nicole Robinson Smith, 24, was killed in the accident on County Road 5. Smith was six months pregnant with a daughter.
Troopers were called to the scene of the accident at 2:35 p.m. According to trooper information officer Doris Teague, the accident was 11 miles northeast of Monroeville.
Smith was the only occupant of a 2001 Chevy Tahoe when the accident occurred.
Apparently she was not wearing a seat belt, and she may have run off the road, Teague said.
When she tried to compensate, the vehicle rolled over at least once, and Smith was ejected from the vehicle.
According to Teague, the accident is under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers.
Smith was a native of Milton and a resident of Evergreen. She graduated from Evergreen High School where she was in the R.O.T.C. program. She had also attended T.R. Miller High School and had been a member of the band. She attended the Monroeville Church of Nazarene and the Glory Hill Holiness Church in Appleton. She was employed at Gerber Children’s Wear in Evergreen and was a coordinator for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Lee Smith, and son, Jaxson Smith, both of Evergreen.
