If you visit downtown Brewton this Saturday, you can’t help but see a parking lot full of some of the best looking cars around. The Lions Club will sponsor the third annual Car Show and according to Lions Club president, Wayne Morris, this could be the best one yet.
Morris credits Glen Freeman, a Brewton resident and an avid car collector, and Howard Andrews, past president of the Lions Club, with helping to organize and bringing the cars to Brewton for display. There are 60 trophies to be given ranging from best paint job to the oldest vehicle.
The show will begin at 9 a.m. on St. Nicholas Avenue, just behind BankTrust. The Boy Scouts will raise the flag and the show will begin. There will be Conecuh sausage and hamburgers with all the trimmings. This, along with entertainment, will make this into a good Saturday outing with the family.
The Lions Club has around 36 members and is responsible for placing flags in front of businesses. They are also selling tickets on a $500 prize to be given away at the Miller-Neal game this week. They work with “Alabama Sight” to help those who have problems with their eyes and have given of their time to the Habitat project as well as helping with Hurricane Katrina relief.
The public is invited to come on down to the car show, eat a sausage dog and see all the cars on display.
