Plans are still in the works for a renovation of the Brewton City Park, but initial cost estimates have been higher than expected, Tree and Beautification Board President Joe Gordy said Tuesday.
Speaking after he accepted an award on the board’s behalf from the city council, Gordy said the beautification board may have to scale back some of its plans.
The beautification board project, which includes a proposed clock, landscaping and gazebo, is being funded entirely through private donations.
The beautification board was honored recently by Alabama Tree City USA, an organization of tree boards across the state, for its work in beautifying the city.
Gordy said the award would not be possible without other members of the committee and the city’s public works department.
