MS teams meet in Battle of Muder Creek event

In a Battle of Murder Creek game of their own, Brewton Middle School and W.S. Neal Middle Schools took to the field Thursday night in a home game for W.S. Neal. The game was played at Brewton Municipal Stadium to keep from messing the field up at W.S. Neal for Friday night's varsity action.
The Brewton Middle School 7th grade team took an 8-0 victory over W.S. Neal Middle School's 7th grade team Thursday night. In the 8th grade game, W.S. Neal returned the favor as they defeated Brewton 30-8 as both teams ended their seasons.
In the 7th grade game, a one-15 minute quarter was played as Brewton won the game 8-0.
After both teams exchanged punts on their first offensive series of the games, Brewton drove down the W.S. Neal 25-yard line on their third offensive series before fumbling the ball and W.S. Neal recovered at the 25-yard line.
W.S. Neal then ran one play before fumbling the ball back to Brewton at the 28-yard line.
Brewton was then able to get three rushes from Jamal Spears to move the ball to the Neal 1-yard line. Quarterback Kevin Davis then went the final yard to give Brewton a 6-0 lead with 1:55 and then Davis added the two-point conversion to make the lead 8-0.
W.S. Neal's drive ended with the clock as Brewton won 8-0.
Spears finished with 35 yards fro Brewton and Montrel Banks was the leading rusher for W.S. Neal as he had 19 yards.
In the 8th grade game, W.S. Neal scored 22 second half points and held the Brewton offense intact as they won 30-8.
W.S. Neal quarterback Ashton Elliott finished the game with 87 yards and one touchdown and Hunter Mullins added 61 as Neal had 209 yards rushing and 248 total. Marquese Banks had 50 yards and two touchdowns.
After a scoreless first quarter, Brewton got on the board first when quarterback Conner Denton handed off to running back Devonte Johnson and Johnson connected with Louis Miller and went 41-yards for the touchdown with 4:56 left in the second quarter.
W.S. Neal responded with a score of their own when Elliott connected with Mullins for a 20-yard touchdown with 24.6 seconds in the half and Elliott added the two-point conversion to tie the game at 8-8.
Neal was able to take the lead with 1:08 left in the third quarter when Banks rushed 11 yards for a touchdown and the two-point conversion failed as Neal took the lead 14-8.
Neal was able to score again when Banks scored from three yards out and added the two-point conversion as Neal took a 22-8 lead with 5:15 in the fourth quarter.
Neal added their last touchdown in the game when Elliott rushed 16-yards for a touchdown to score 1:27 and Mullins added the two-point conversion as Neal took the game 30-8.
Johnson finished with 39 yards for Brewton.
