Brewton and East Brewton residents saw skies filled with smoke throughout the day Monday as the result of a fire at T.R. Miller Mill Company.
The fire, which kept firefighters on the scene for about 13 hours, was contained in one of three dry kilns on the grounds of the Brewton mill.
Capt. Robert Crenshaw with the Brewton Fire Department said 21 full-time employees and volunteers were called to fight the blaze.
Crenshaw said assistance from workers at the mill proved to be valuable during the day of firefighting.
The long-burning fire created high temperatures as the fire was being contained.
No employee or firefighter injuries were reported in the incident.
