Mr. Robert Earline Ellis Jr., 85, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at a Florida hospital. He was a native and resident of Flomaton for most of his life. He retired from L&N Railroad after 43 years of service. He attended the Bethel Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Kornegay Ellis.
He is survived by his wife, Lucile B. Ellis of Flomaton; two daughters, Wanda (Melvin) Ellis Ward of Port St. Joe, Fla., and Christine (Steve) Ellis Stanton of Flomaton; a stepson, Frank (JoAnn) Brown of Columbus, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Sue (Melvin) Crowter of Pensacola; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Juanita Sheffield of Flomaton.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hogg and the Rev. Earle Greene officiating. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Ford Grissett, Mikey Burkett, Steve Gunde, Larry White, Jason Hart, and Ron Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Flomaton Fire Department.
