Pollard First County Seat
When Escambia County was formed in 1869 (1868) out of portions of Conecuh, Baldwin and Monroe Counties, Pollard was designated as the county seat. At that time Pollard was the largest community and was the southern terminus of the Montgomery and Mobile Railroad, which later became a part of the L&N system.
