Mrs. Amye Ethel Brantley, 97, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at the home of her granddaughter. She was native of Mt. Carmel, Fla., and had been a resident of Flomaton for the past 80 years. During her working years she was a blocker for Sheltex Ribbon Mill. She was a member of Osaka Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, Marvin W. Brantley; two sons, Daniel E. Brantley and Charles R. Brantley; five brothers and one grandson.
She is survived by three sisters, Della Godwin of Century, Veda Welch of Pineview, and Jean Monney Clark of Bluff Springs; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home with the Rev. James Johnson and the Rev. Glenn Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Catawba Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Richard Byrd, Lenell Welch, Tommy Welch, Sammy Emmons, Larry Smith, and Kenny Higdon.
